If you are anything like me, designing a spring millinery collection can be mighty challenging. Where do you start? What will be the colour trends? What are the fabric and prints?
We have taken the guess work out and are giving you a massive head start for this year’s spring carnival! Fresh from my trip to Italy, I reveal the Top 10 biggest fashion trends for Spring Summer 2023 ~ Rebecca Share x
# 1 – Metallic
Boy oh boy there were A LOT of metallics featured in just about every store, from shoes to handbags, accessories and shop window displays, get ready for a lot of shiny, dazzling colour because metallics are “in” for this season.
# 2 – Ombre
Ombré, a French term for shaded that creates a beautiful gradient effect. From fashion pieces like dresses and bucket hats to handbags in bright or sorbet tones, rest assured this fun look will feature this season.
# 3 – Straw and Raffia
Chunky textured straw bags, hats and raffia accessories bring a natural, earthy feel to casual looks.
# 4 – Crochet
I was literally swooning for hours in this store! Crochet is a huge trend, not only for dresses, jackets and tops, but it was heavily used in handbags and clutch bags as well. I wanted to buy them all!
# 5 – Beading
The beaded bag promises to pull out all the stops. Chunky, bright colours and so divine. Beading and pearls are also a huge accent for accessories.
# 6 – Flower Power
Because you can never have enough floral! This dominating trend is literally in every store, from boutique window displays to handbags, men’s shirts and women’s dress fabrics. Get ready for some blooming beautiful fun this spring.
# 7 – Green with Envy
You had me at green! Think every green hue from mint to bright apple green, the metallic shimmery good-as-green vibes are coming this spring.
# 8 – Hat Trends
Always a classic, Boater hats were a key feature of Spring 2023 trends. Also dominating the coming season are textured straws, raffia, embroidered brims and stripes, we love stripes… especially monochrome for Derby day.
# 9 – Shoes
Ahhh, the shoes are incredible! Channeling a 50s vibe in stunning metallic sorbet colour tones, they would pair beautifully with iridescent or metallic millinery for the fashions on the field.
# 10 – Handbags
From gorgeous sorbet, to textured basketry woven bags, the new season styles are oh so delicious! The coloured handbag below reminded me of Feather Starbursts.
